Deleting your account

This page explains how to delete your African Palace account — the app published on Google Play and the App Store by African Palace, and the account you use on this website — and exactly what happens to your information when you do.

How to delete your account

From the app

  1. Open the African Palace app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings, then the Account section.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Read what will be removed, type DELETE in the confirmation box, and tap Delete my account.

Deletion happens immediately. You are signed out on every device, and the account cannot be recovered afterwards.

By email

If you no longer have the app, or cannot sign in, write to africanpalacemakkah@gmail.com from the email address on the account, with the subject line Delete my account. If you registered with a different address, include the phone number or email you used so we can find you. We will confirm it is you before deleting, and complete the request within 30 days.

What is deleted

The following is erased straight away and cannot be restored:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Your password and every sign-in session, on every device.
  • Your saved delivery addresses.
  • Your favourite dishes.
  • Your notification, language and currency settings.
  • The registration that lets us send push notifications to your phone.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Past orders and their receipts are kept, with your name, email and phone number replaced by "Deleted customer". A receipt is a tax record in both Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, and each order has to reconcile against a payment the bank already settled. They are kept for as long as tax law in the relevant market requires, and no longer.
  • A record that the deletion happened — the date, and whether you or a member of staff requested it — so we can show a regulator that we acted on your request. It contains none of the details listed above.
  • Baskets you never checked out are deleted a week after they expire whether or not you delete your account.

Deleting data without closing your account

You do not need to delete your account to remove a saved address, a favourite or a notification preference — each can be removed from your account at any time. To stop promotional messages without leaving, turn them off in Settings; order updates are unaffected.
